The first phase of the electrical work is done. We have a new breaker box and the kitchen outlets and lights are wired. The only thing remaining for the electricians is the finish work of adding outlets, face plates, and under cabinet lighting. One thing the electricians were able to do that we were thrilled about is the installation of the pendant lights on the bottom of the beam between the kitchen and dining room. We were originally thinking that they would need to install the pendant lights on one side of the beam or other. Installing on the bottom of the beam has two benefits; first, it just feels right having it installed there; and second, it will adequately light both the bar and the peninsula counter top.
Pete our contractor has started putting drywall back up. Hopefully tomorrow all the drywall will be up and mudding should be almost complete by the weekend. Our goal is to put primer on the walls and paint the ceiling. We'll see how close we can get to that.
Sarah and I are close to finding out if we can afford the granite tile for the counter tops. We should know by the end of the week what we'll be doing for that. Also we hope to have the floor ordered by the end of the week.
As I write this Sarah is researching kitchen sinks and faucets. Maybe we'll get that finalized sometime next week.
